Artist's Description

Trim Castle | Enhanced Photograph by Menega Sabidussi.
The spectacular 12th century, medieval fortress Trim Castle, Co. Meath, against a dramatic irish sky. With an area of 30,000 m2, it is the largest Norman castle in Ireland. The massive building was constructed over a thirty-year period by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter. Hugh de Lacy was granted the Liberty of Meath by King Henry II in 1172 in an attempt to curb the expansionist policies of Richard de Clare, (Strongbow).
