The statue of Diana the Huntress is actually positioned behind the stone wall in the Rose Garden of Kilkenny Castle. When you walk past the spot, up from the town to the castle entrance, it seems as if she is standing on the wall, ready to have a go at whatever comes into her sights. Good thing she seems to be missing her bow and arrow.
Kilkenny Castle is an Anglo-Norman, 12th century, medieval castle remodelled in Victorian times. It was the principal seat of the Butler family until the property was given to the Nation in 1967. The beautiful castle and grounds are now managed by the Office of Public Works and it is a must see if you visit Ireland.
